Karen Bag is a minimalist and functional bag design from AxelKnit, created for those who want a lightweight, compact, and stylish bag for everyday use. The bag is knitted in Cotton Light from Drops, worked with two strands to provide extra body and durability. Yarn consumption is 100 g for the small and 150 g for the large version, and with a yardage of 105 m per 50 g, this gives the bag a soft yet robust structure. The gauge is 17 stitches x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm in seed stitch on 5 mm needles, as stated in the introduction on page 1.
Karen Bag is knitted in the round and finished at the bottom by closing the stitches together from the inside for a clean and professional result. Once the body is complete, stitches are picked up at the center of each side to knit a drawstring casing for the leather cords. This technique is worked on 3 mm needles, and the casing is formed by knitting two pieces that are then sewn together using grafting. This creates a neat, even, and durable closure for the straps.
The bag is finished with two leather cords of approx. 1 meter each, which are threaded through their own casing so the ends meet at the bottom and are tied in a knot. This gives the bag a simple and exclusive look and makes it easy to open and close.
